It features two separate overdrive circuits based on two heavily customized classic amplifiers, each with their own sound, that you can blend together for a harmonically complex palette of grit, grind, and maxed-out overdrive.

Custom foundation.

This pedal’s sound is based on a pair of heavily customized guitar amplifiers of legendary make and model. Each was tuned with a complementary tonal profile to the other, and when played in tandem, the overall sound was incredible. MXR’s crack team of engineers carefully analyzed every component to recreate that unified sound in a single pedal.

Double stacked.

The FOD Drive features two separate overdrive circuits, each based on one of the aforementioned custom amps—the super-scooped, heavily saturated High Gain channel and the punchy, midrange-focused Crunch Gain channel. With the Blend control, you get to set the ratio of each at the final output.

Tailored tones.

And that’s not all the tweaking you can do. The High Gain and Crunch Gain channels each have their own Gain and Volume controls, while the Tone knob sets the EQ for the overall output signal, and the Scoop switch allows you to choose between flat, scooped, or boosted midrange voices.
