AB Team Gear: Jeroen's Dunlop Cry Baby
A while ago, we have introduced all our team members on social media. Now, it’s time to present their musical gear. Today, it’s time for our BMI Sales Director, Jeroen Dierckxsens. Jeroen started playing guitar at age 14 and he loves to experiment with effect pedals. He will show us one of his oldest and most precious pedals, the Dunlop Cry Baby.
The Dunlop Cry Baby is probably one of the most famous wah-wah pedals in the world. The way-wah effect was originally intended to imitate the crying tone that a muted trumpet produced, but it became an expressive tool in its own way. This pedal features in many great guitar solo’s by Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and also by… Jeroen Dierckxsens!
Jeroen really digs the sound of the Cry Baby and he added this pedal to his collection about 12 years ago. He uses the effect a lot because he likes to make his guitars scream!
Jeroen: “The more the merrier. It makes your sound very funky and I like that. The Cry Baby works perfectly to play a bit more percussive because you can alternate with high and low frequencies. This pedal is the best sauce for a good sound that really brings the guitar to life. This pedal differs for me from other wah-wah’s because it is very audible in the mix during recordings or performances.”
12 years and still going strong. You can see on this photo that this pedal has been used, a lot. So do not doubt the durability of this famous Cry Baby pedal, manufactured by Dunlop!
