AB Team Gear: Dago's Nord Drum 3P
A while ago, we have introduced our team members on social media. Now, it’s time for them to present their musical gear. Today, it’s time for our Hi-Tech Product Specialist, Dago Sondervan. Dago started studying percussion in 1980 and he likes to experiment with electronic drums. That’s why he got the Nord Drum 3P as soon as it came out!
“I started using the Nord Drum 3P as soon as it came out. I’m also a big fan of the Nord Drum 2 so the Nord Drum 3P was a logical step.” Dago said.
Check out Dago’s demo video of the Nord Drum 2 at the bottom of this page.
Dago: “I adore using electronic drums and synthesizers. The Nord Drum 3P is a drum-synthesizer so it’s the best of both worlds. The idea of the Nord Drum started as an emulation of the Simmons SDS series, and it has more than succeeded. I can know that, because I worked with a Simmons SDS9 for years.”
“In my opinion, the Nord Drum goes much further than the Simmons. The Nord Drum 3P is completely digital and yet it has a character that strongly refers to the analog. You have a number of sound generation options and if you trigger some bass drums from the unit, you will notice that they never sound exactly the same, just as you would expect from an analog drum machine.”
'“I often use the Nord Drum 3P in combination with the Novation Circuit. I also use it in live coding environments because the Nord Drum allows me to control all parameters on the spot. It is also my regular choice to program drums when composing something with Ableton Live. With the Nord Drum 2 and 3P, my drums always sound more interesting than if I only used samples or plugins.”
In this video, Dago gives us an idea of what the Nord Drum is capable of:
