CORDIAL ECOHEMP
It's time for a change! For decades, little has changed in the basic concept with regard to instrument cables: A core of copper on the inside, a jacket of PVC on the outside. This formula for success has guaranteed robust and at the same time flexible cables for a long time.
What is often not taken into account, though: Due to some additives, a problem-free recycling of PVC is not possible!
As a novelty in our more than 25-year company history, CORDIAL now relies on a completely new jacket material that completely dispenses with PVC! Sustainable and, most notably, at least of the same high quality as anything that has been used before.
Their alternative to PVC is named TPE-V. This is a blend of soft/elastic components that provide flexibility, softness and good windability, and firmer components that provide both notch resistance and a problem-free use at high service temperatures.
In addition to that...

...Energy consumption during production is significantly lower than for conventional PVC materials.
...TPE-V is 25% lighter than PVC.
...All of the production takes place in Europe to keep supply chains short.
...For every cable sold, a tree will be planted by the non-profit organization Trees for the Future (TREES).
...The textile jacket of the EcoHemp series is GOTS certified *(TRANSACTION CERTIFICATE NUMBER ICEA TC GOTS 2022 80775 3179).
...Even the packaging is made of recycled gray cardboard (FSC® mix).

FABRIC JACKET MADE OF HEMP: NATURAL, RENEWABLE, 100% RECYCLABLE
Let’s go the whole hog and start the new product line with an icing on the cake: If the chief concern is the sustainability of the jacket material, then the "trappings" should also be sustainable. And how can they achieve this? The solution to this problem is the utilization of hemp!
CORDIAL ECOHEMP CABLE
The complete fabric material of ECOHEMP cables consists of a braid of special hemp fibers in a matte mélange green/brown shade. For thousands of years this natural raw material has been used for the production of fabrics. For this purpose CORDIAL uses hemp from certified sustainable cultivation.
To ensure the flexibility of the fabric jacket, the machines used operate in the so-called "low-speed process" mode during braiding, i.e. particularly slowly, resulting in an especially elastic and resistant braid.

With the development of this innovative, state-of-the-art fabric jacket they wanted to make sure that they can now offer you a textile jacket that can withstand even the toughest challenges that musicians have to face in their daily routines. That's why CORDIAL commissioned a renowned independent textile research institute to put this product "through its paces".
What makes ECOHEMP so special?
Their cooperation with Trees for the Future (TREES)
The non-profit organization Trees for the Future (TREES), headquartered in Maryland/USA, advocates special concepts that have been tried and tested for decades to reforest woodlands and at the same time fight poverty in affected regions.
CORDIAL is fully aware of the fact that certain components of an assembled cable still do not sufficiently meet the requirements of complete sustainability, especially with regards to the conductor made of copper as well as to the connectors. To compensate for these deficiencies at least to a certain extent, they have entered into a cooperation with the world-renowned non-profit organization Trees For The Future, under which a tree will be planted for every ECOCORD series cable sold.
Emballage durable
What good is a sustainable product that lacks a sustainable packaging? So, consequently, their approach towards the sustainability of our ECOCORD / ECOHEMP products in as many areas as possible, logically also included the product tag properties. That's why they use recycled gray cardboard, which has a particularly good environmental balance and is FSC® Mix certified.
Selon FSC® Allemagne, le FSC® Mix stipule l'utilisation de matériaux provenant de forêts certifiées FSC et/ou de matériaux recyclés ainsi que de matériaux provenant de sources contrôlées dans la production. Au moins 70 % des matériaux utilisés doivent être certifiés FSC® ou recyclés après consommation, ou une quantité au moins équivalente doit être utilisée dans le processus de production des produits labellisés. Ceci est confirmé par le sceau FSC® Mix sur les étiquettes ECOCORD / ECOHEMP.
The tag design
The design of the tags, which are used for all products in the ECOCORD series, features a matching uncoated paper / gray cardboard (2-color) and stands out well from other Cordial product tags.
On the back of the tag explanations regarding the product are summed up in a visually appealing way - so that you already know what it's all about when you buy the product.

The ECOHEMP assembly cables are available equipped with the customary 6.35 mm jack variants "straight/straight" (ECOHEMP PP) and "straight/right angled" (ECOHEMP PR).
In addition, CORDIAL also offers versions with straight NEUTRIK® silentPLUG® (ECOHEMP PP-SILENT) or right-angled NEUTRIK® silentPLUG® (ECOHEMP PR-SILENT) to avoid annoying amp crackling noise when plugging in and unplugging an instrument.
