HK Audio launches the new LINEAR 5 mkII 308 LTA & 118 Sub HPA compact long throw system!

Manufactured in St. Wendel, Germany, the LINEAR 5 MK II 308 LTA and 118 Sub HPA systems are exceptionally efficient, modular, and cost-effective sound reinforcement tools for large and long rooms. The Multicell Transformer (MCT) of the LINEAR 5 MK II 308 LTA enables enormous throw distances in a compact design. The systems can be flexibly deployed either as a groundstack setup or flown, as a cluster and a headstack.

LINEAR 5 MK II - 308 LTA

Compact long throw active mid/high unit (LTA) with transparent, assertive sound. The 1-inch HF driver with Multicell Transformer (MCT) offers unprecedented sound depth without treble roll-off. Three vertically arranged, hornloaded 8-inch woofers reproduce the bass and mids concisely and voluminously. The 308 LTA can also be used individually for expansive speech reinforcement.

Presets for clustering and headstacking that can be accessed directly on the speakers offer a quick and simple workflow.

Where more sound pressure, depth and wider dispersion are needed, forming clusters and headstacks is easy and achieves optimum dispersion results.

308 LTA Cluster

Wider dispersion with more low/midrange reserves

308 LTA Headstack

More sound pressure and more range

308 LTA Headstack Cluster

More sound pressure, depth and range

LINEAR 5 MK II - 118 Sub HPA

Compact bass reflex sub with 18" woofer. Ample headroom, 131dB SPL and noticeably powerful bass reproduction throughout the entire low frequency range up to 33 Hz make the 118 Sub HPA the most powerful subwoofer in the LINEAR 5 MK II series. It is the optimal foundation for LINEAR 5 MK II 308 LTA systems. All other LINEAR 5 MK II mid/high units benefit from having more low-end.

Presets that can be selected directly on the speaker facilitate cardioid operation. The low weight of the robust birch multiplex enclosure and the compact dimensions, along with the HK Audio MultiGrips, simplify handling and transport.

FEATURES

Multicell Transformer MCT

The MCT is made up of many small horns of various sizes and lengths. Interfering horn resonances are pushed above the transmission range, which keeps distortion to a minimum. As a result, there is significantly more usable sound pressure available.

At the same time, the MCT technology enables analogue beam steering and thus an asymmetrical horn dispersion pattern.

This, combined with the very precise dispersion, makes headstack and cluster arrangements very easy to achieve. This allows the MCT to reach long ranges even with compact dimensions.

DSP CONTROL Software

HK Audio DSP CONTROL for Mac and PC enables precise tuning of all LINEAR 5 MK II components. The DSP functions can be accessed via a network connection directly from FoH at any time and can be bundled by sub and main groups. This makes managing large speaker setups or multiple event spaces much easier.

Virtual units make it possible to create a setup in advance of an event, even without the speakers connected. The network-compatible speakers can then be conveniently assigned to the virtual units on site at the click of a mouse. Presets can be prepared and saved directly on the speaker.

DSP Out

Speakers without DSP can simply be connected to a DSP Out and independently processed via the DSP CONTROL software using the extensive DSP functions.

Cardioid presets

Uncontrolled bass dispersion on and behind the stage and a high feedback risk in the lower frequency range can be countered with cardioid technology for the subwoofers. It is straightforward and does not require any measurement technology: simply set up, select a preset, and you’re done!

The rear attenuation is up to 34 dB, while the front sound dispersion sees a slight increase of approximately 2 dB.

RCS Rain Cover Set

The RCS Rain Cover Set supplied with the LINEAR 5 MK II 308 LTA and 118 Sub HPA reliably protects the electronics from rain, leaving all connections accessible and ensuring the controls are easy to read.
