AB Team Gear: Alain's Natal Drum Kit and Sabian Cymbals

A while ago, we have introduced our team members on social media. Now, it’s time for them to present their musical gear. Our CEO, Alain Bokken, will present his drum kit and his accessories today. We also ask Alain about his experiences as a drummer. Are you ready for it? One, two, three, GO!

Drums are like the metronome of the band. So it’s really important that you have a good drum kit! Alain has chosen for this Natal Maple Orange Sparkle kit with Sabian FRX and HHX cymbals. The first kicks on this kit were played in January 2020, when it arrived at the AB office.

“Sabian is my go-to brand since 1991. Just like Vic FIrth. I’ve played a very long time on 5A’s because it was the standard. But since 2007, I've switched to 5B’s because these sticks feel heavier and thicker.” Alain said.

Alain: “When it comes to Sabian cymbals, I always try to keep up with the latest trends. This kit is equipped with HHX cymbals at the moment, because these cymbals just rock! They have recently won the Slagwerkkrant 2020 Poll Award and I think these cymbals deserve that!”

What did you like the most about being a drummer?

Alain: “Back in the days, when we did shows with the Magical Flying Thunderbirds, people came to me and said that I have inspired them to start playing music. This was one of the biggest compliments I could receive at that time. That’s also the reason why I started WhamBam.”
